The state Department of Health said this evening that it has ordered all Oahu and Kauai Genki Sushi restaurants to close immediately after identifying the restaurants as the source of the ongoing hepatitis A outbreak.

State health officials say contaminated raw scallops sold at Genki Sushi restaurants are the source of the state’s worst hepatitis A outbreak in more than two decades.  Health officials have ordered the immediate closure of 10 Genki Sushi outlets on Oahu and Kauai. To date, 168 people have been affected by the viral illness.
