The language police are busy these days! According to CNN reporter Melonynce McAfee, Lake Superior State University has released its annual list of words and phrases that should be exiled to the place where bad dictionaries go. Here are some of the overworked words that deserve oblivion:
Starting sentences with the word “so,”
Calling issues problematic.
Calling the way a man sits as “manspreading.”
“Give me life.”
“Walk it back.”
Stakeholder.
Presser.
Bae
Polar Vortex.
Swag.
Foodie
Cracra.
The good folks at Lake Superior University would have a field day with Hawaiian Pidgin English, which is now an official language in Hawaii. Imagine trying to figure out “Da Kine” or “Was a matter you?” Whatever floats your boat! Aloha, Russ.
