PUC Chairman Randy Iwase tells KHON 2 News that a decision on the proposed merger of NextEra Energy LLC with Hawaii Electric Industries “is likely within weeks.”  PUC members are now reviewing the final draft of their decision and results of that decision should be released by the end of June.  Iwase says there are many rumors circulating about the merger and the soon-to-be-released report will clear the air and help Hawaiian Electric meet the clean energy goals of 2045.
