The state Department of Health faces a triple threat from Dengue Fever, Hepatitis A, and the Zika virus.  Health department officials met with state legislators on Monday, 08 August 2016, to express their concerns and to find out if additional resources will be made available to mitigate the effect of these diseases in Hawaii.

State Senator Will Espero tells KHON 2 News that lawmakers will work with the health department “to provide what ever assistance they can, and ensure the state pursues any grants that may become available.”

Meanwhile, HMSA and the Hawaii Restaurant Association are joining forces to help Hawaii residents get a Hepatitis A vaccine. So far, there have been 135 confirmed cases of Hepatitis A in Hawaii, mostly on Oahu.
