With the state Department of Health focusing on the Hepatitis A outbreak, disease prevention programs such as “The Stop the Flu at School” project have been “largely placed on hold.”
State epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Park says the program is facing staffing challenges and a shortage of nurse to administer the vaccine. Although some school flu clinics could begin in November, “most of the clinics will take place in January of next year.”
