NOAA and NASA scientists have confirmed what many of us suspected:  2015 was an extremely hot year, setting records around the globe.  According to CNN senior meteorologist Brandon Miller, “10 of the 12 months last year were the warmest respective months on record–and those go back 136 years.”  The main culprit was an especially strong and persistent El Nino phenomenon, which not only warmed oceans, but also dumped excess heat into the atmosphere, raising global temperatures an average of 1.6 degrees F/0.90 C.  If you think 2015 was hot, just wait ’till El Nino refreshes itself this year. Weather forecasters believe hot conditions will prevail at least through mid-year, perhaps even longer.  Does anyone doubt “global warming‘” these days?  Aloha, Russ.
