What a horrendous act of barbarism! Twenty-five-year-old Bobby Young-Townsend appeared in court Monday (25 January 2016) to answer charges that he set his girlfriend, Leilani Parado, on fire following an argument.  Young-Townsend faced charges of arson and attempted murder.

Court documents allege that Young-Townsend “grabbed a large fast food cup that contained about three inches of gasoline and threw it on Parado…Bobby took a lighter and flicked it…when Bobby flicked the lighter again, the gasoline ignited.”

Ms. Parado remains at the Straub Clinic and Hospital, recovering from first, second, and third degree burns over 30 percent of her body.

There is no excuse for this kind of behavior…none.  I trust a jury will find him guilty of attempted murder and put him away for life.  This excuse for a human being should be removed from society and never be allowed parole.  You hear a lot about such cases in foreign lands, but to have it happen here in Hawaii just reminds us that no place on this planet is safe from sociopaths.
