After surveying more than 2,300 Oahu high school students, the University of Hawaii Cancer Center concluded that e-cigarettes are harmful to teens. According to KHON 2 News reporter Marisa Yamane, e-cigarettes are popular among teen agers, partly because they come in several flavors. The UH research study adds that teens who use e-cigarettes “are more likely to start smoking tobacco cigarettes. Dr. Thomas Wills, the interim director of the UH Cancer Center’s Prevention and Control Program, says that “teens who smoke e-cigarettes are three times more likely to smoke tobacco cigarettes.” Wills states that e-cigarettes are far from “neutral” when it comes to hooking teens on tobacco. Aloha, Russ.
