It’s been a long time since Kauai launched an ocean voyaging canoe. A 600-year gap was closed when the Na Mahoe touched the waters of Nawiliwili Harbor on Kauai after twenty years of planning and building. The Na Mahoe project was under the direct supervision of John Kruse, who was a member of Hokule’a’s maiden voyage to Tahiti in 1976.
