The FDA is recalling a liquid cough syrup made by the Ma Ying Long Pharmaceutical Group in mainland China.  According to the FDA, the “Licorice Coughing Liquid” contains an opioid derivative known as morphine.  That ingredient is not listed on the product label. Morphine can cause respiratory depression and death.  The product was sold to Chinese grocery stores in Hawaii, Nevada, California, New Jersey, Ohio, and Illinois.  Aloha, Russ.
